When it comes to winter sports, the United States has got it covered. From the stunning ski slopes of the Rocky Mountains to the more manageable downhill descents of New England, the country caters to skiers of all levels.

The Rockies are home to some of the world’s most famous powder destinations. Lake Tahoe is a popular choice for its top-notch skiing and stunning views. Jackson Hole can be excruciatingly cold in the winter, but the slopes there are like catnip to skiers and snowboarders. Salt Lake City, which frequently hosts winter sports competitions, has plenty of slopes within a short drive. Home to the famous summer film festival, Telluride attracts snow bunnies each winter. Possibly the country’s best-known winter resort, Aspen caters to skiers of all skill levels and makes a great choice for the entire family. Nearby White River National Forest provides plenty of cross-country trails.

On the East Coast, Vermont is the ski capitol. Stowe is often compared to towns you would find in the Alps, with Swiss-style chalets and challenging slopes. Killington is one of the largest ski areas in the East, offering several resorts with ski-in ski-out accommodations that make it ideal for groups traveling together. If you want to do more than just ski, Burlington has plenty to see, and the slopes are just a short distance away.
